Inbound Sales and Onboarding Specialist

Are you passionate about helping people find the best solutions to their problems? Our product Insight is a software-as-a-service tool that helps primary schools monitor and report on their pupils’ progress and overall school performance. Since schools have various approaches to assessment and data tracking, Insight is designed to be flexible, so that it can be tailored to fit their needs and store all their data in one place: contextual information, attendance, teacher assessment, record of statutory (and mock) assessment, test scores, reading ages, phonics phase, comparative judgement, targets, provision/additional support, learning plans, parents reports, curriculum objectives, notes… Insight makes all this easily accessible to teachers and school leaders via a suite of intuitive reports.

Our Inbound Sales and Onboarding Specialists handle enquiries from schools and Multi-Academy Trusts and onboard them if they decide to take up a free trial of Insight. As the first point of contact for most schools, you’ll play a critical part in representing both our product and who we are as a company. This role covers everything from answering enquiry emails/calls and delivering online product demonstrations, to understanding each customer’s needs and setting up their free trial accounts accordingly, as well as organising and delivering online training and offering proactive onboarding support where necessary. We’re looking for two enthusiastic, customer-focused people to join our team in this role.

There is an element of inbound sales to this role, but this isn’t a traditional sales environment. If you’re driven by personal targets and performance-based commission, this is unlikely to be the role for you! While you’ll need to be comfortable demonstrating the value of our product to various stakeholders, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a low-pressure, supportive approach to welcoming new customers. We work as a team and co-ordinate across departments to ensure that prospective customers have a great experience right from the start. Our company-wide bonus scheme distributes 25% of profits to all staff in recognition of the work that everyone puts in to deliver a great service to schools.

We’re proud of our stats: more than 80% of schools who try Insight decide to become customers, and over 95% renew their subscription each year. With 20% of UK primary schools already onboard, and upwards of 900 schools starting trials in the last 12 months alone, this is an exciting time to join a growing company in our mission to help schools make sense of assessment data and reduce workload.

Location to suit you: Successful applications will have the option to work remotely or from our offices in Hayle or Doncaster.

Hours: Full time (35 hours/week) with access to our flexitime system. Normal hours 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday (1hr lunch)

Experience: Demonstrable experience in a customer-facing role and/or working in education or in an “edtech” company.

Salary: Starting salary £28,933 with participation in our company-wide bonus scheme, plus benefits (detailed below).

Holiday: 40 days for a full-time role, inclusive of public holidays should you choose to take them as holiday.

Start Date:  ASAP.

Probationary Period: Six months.

Duties and Responsibilities

We’re a constantly evolving company, so day-to-day tasks may change over time, or we may ask you do to other things not listed here. Generally speaking, you’ll be working under the direction of the Inbound Sales and Onboarding Team Manager on tasks including:

  • Growth: Responding to inbound sales enquiries via phone and email; providing personalised online product demos; working to understand the needs of schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.
  • Onboarding: Building relationships and supporting users as they progress through a free trial; customizing accounts to suit each school; delivering product training; monitoring new customer satisfaction and engagement.
  • Collaboration: Working with our Data Processing team to help manage the transfer of schools’ existing data into our product; collaborating with the Help Desk Support team when customers need technical support; passing on feedback to the Product team about customer requirements.
  • Record keeping: As the first point of contact for schools, you’ll be gathering key information about their requirements, and what they need to make their experience a good one. Keeping well-written records of this information for ongoing use by the whole team is crucial to ensuring customers are efficiently supported throughout their time with us.
  • Learning and development: Becoming an expert user of Insight; becoming knowledgeable about the common assessment models used by schools and the problems schools face; keeping up to date with policy changes and trends; learning the company ethos and how different Insight departments work and fit together; working with colleagues to ensure we’re always improving our processes.

Key Competencies & Behaviours

This role suits a “people person” who shares our values: delivering excellent work that wows people and has a positive impact; paying attention to detail and collaborating to drive up standards; questioning assumptions and traditional ways of doing things; and using success for good.

You’ll enjoy talking with others and working to understand their needs, having a genuine desire to help them. You’ll need to be confident in your ability to apply your knowledge and experience in order to handle ambiguous information, making sensible judgement calls and figuring out what schools need. You’ll also need to be comfortable navigating comprehensive software tools.

You’ll be pro-active and self-motivated, with a willingness to drive your own learning. You’ll be a team player—happy supporting colleagues and coordinating with team members in other roles.
